Overview
ZymoGenetics creates novel protein drugs with the potential to significantly help patients fight their diseases. The Company is developing a diverse pipeline of proprietary product candidates that are moving into and through clinical development. These span a wide array of clinical opportunities, including bleeding, autoimmune and viral diseases and cancer. ZymoGenetics intends to commercialize these product candidates through internal development, collaborations with partners and out-licensing of patents from its extensive patent portfolio.

During that time, the Company has contributed to the discovery or development of six recombinant protein products currently marketed by other companies. These products have aggregate annual sales of more than $3 billion.
- Focused on therapeutic protein-based products. ZymoGenetics is engaged in the discovery and development of novel therapeutic protein-based products for the prevention or treatment of human disease. The Company has an extensive pipeline in various stages of research and development that target a broad range of diseases and conditions.

ZymoGenetics' early focus on therapeutic proteins has enabled the Company to build an extensive patent portfolio, with more than 300 issued or allowed United States patents. In addition, ZymoGenetics has more than 650 issued or allowed foreign patents.
- Deep pipeline of product candidates. ZymoGenetics has a growing pipeline of potential products that will be developed independently or in collaboration with partners. RECOTHROM™ Thrombin, topical (Recombinant) has been approved by the FDA. In clinical development are three proteins discovered from bioinformatics research efforts. Additionally, ZymoGenetics has established a pipeline of novel protein product candidates that are in various stages of research and development and are potential treatments for a variety of diseases and conditions.
